I had a great time last week attending the F-IRE collective summer workshop led by Barak Schmool and Stephane Payen. We did loads of work on rhythmic interaction in improvisation, and got into some heavy analysis of negative harmony, pitch class sets, the golden section amongst other concepts. Now I’m hoping to use some of these ideas as inspiration for composing some new tunes for my band.
