MoonMot

MoonMot is a UK/Swiss collaborative ensemble featuring Dee Byrne (alto saxophone), Simon Petermann (trombone), Oli Kuster (keyboards), Seth Bennett (double bass), and Johnny Hunter (drums). Formed through a cross-border exchange between LUME (UK) and Jazzwerkstatt Bern (Switzerland), the group made its debut with performances at Jazzwerkstatt Festival in Bern and the London Jazz Festival in 2017.

Following a seven-date tour of Switzerland in March 2019—including a set at BeJazz Transnational in Bern—MoonMot released its debut album Going Down The Well on Unit Records (14 February 2020), supported by a UK and European tour.

In September 2021, the ensemble developed new material during a five-day residency in the Swiss Alps, before heading into RSI Radiotelevisione studios in Lugano to record their second album. The second album was released on 3 November 2023 by Enja Yellowbird.

In October 2024, MoonMot toured India with performances in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. During the trip, the ensemble recorded new collaborative material with three Indian musicians, with the resulting release following in due course.
