Inner Space is a chordless quartet led by trumpeter and composer Loz Speyer, featuring Dee Byrne (alto saxophone), Xhosa Cole (tenor saxophone), Larry Bartley (double bass), and Gary Wilcox (drums). Performing all original compositions by Speyer, the group thrives on a spacious, open-ended approach that encourages deep improvisational dialogue and dynamic interplay.
In December 2023, the ensemble performed at the Mediencampus Villa Ida in Leipzig, Germany. A live recording from this concert—Live in Leipzig—was released in July 2024, with the album launch taking place at The Vortex, London.
