holding hands is a new octet led by Norwich based musicians Chris Dowding and Rob Milne. It explores the relationship between the UK and the US through orchestrated samples as well as lush brass textures and post-minimalist vibraphone patterns, merged together with electronics by several members of the group.
The octet had the opportunity develop its idiosyncratic sound during an Arts Council funded tour in May 2021 and continues to perform live around the UK. I especially enjoy using my effects pedals in this group, alongside trombonist Raph Clarkson. Also in the group: Martin Pyne (vibraphone), Andrew Lisle (drums), Ben Higham (tuba) and Mark Howe (samples, electronics & guitar).
