I am looking forward to two performances with my band Entropi (featuring Olie Brice, Andre Canniere, Rebecca Nash & Matt Fisher) in the first week of February: The first, on Thursday 4th, is a Jazz North East promotion in Newcastle to launch their Women Make Music series. This will be a double bill with a fantastic improvising electronics duo of Shelley Knotts and Mariam Rezaei. Advanced tickets are available HERE. The evening will also signal the launch of Gina Southgate‘s ‘Woman Paints Music’ exhibition at the Newcastle Arts Centre. This will comprise live gig paintings and prints that include women and work made in the north east. Entropi will also be holding a ‘Freedom and Structure Workshop’ at Sage Gateshead on Friday 5th at 10am. Tickets for the workshop are available HERE.
The second performance will be on Sunday 7th at the Green Note in London for their monthly night of original/contemporary jazz, programmed by the amazing tenor saxophonist Alex Hitchcock. For this gig we welcome special guest Nick Walters (Beats & Pieces, Paradox Ensemble) on trumpet. We’ll be sharing the bill with pianist James Beckwith and his trio. What’s particularly exciting is that we will be playing a new batch of my compositions on these gigs and going into the studio in the not-too-distant future to record our second album. Watch this SPACE (no pun intended…)!
